A statue on St. George’s Terrace faces in a different direction to those around it. All of the plaques outside Council House have an ornate border around the City of Perth crest, except that one. That one’s plain. Suspiciously plain. The windows on a building overlooking Elizabeth Quay are different shapes, but in a repeating pattern.

Are these just random details we walk past every day without paying too much attention? Maybe. Or are they the key to solving your puzzle and advancing to the next location?

The detail you need to solve the puzzle is hidden in plain sight. It might be a subtle detail like a crest on a plaque that is missing a border. It might be a giant statue of some pen nibs stuck into the ground. Either way, your team might walk past it several times before realising it’s the missing piece you needed all along!

No one person has all the info. Player 1’s phone may show the lock and an important detail on where your team should be looking. Player 2’s phone may contain some mysterious symbols that help you figure out which mural to examine more closely. You can only unlock the next area if your team work together!

Somebody spots a detail they think might be important. Then someone notices there’s a pattern. You make the final leap that solves the puzzle. The lock springs open and you race to the next stage! How long are the games valid for?

We place a 6 month expiry date on your game access. The clues are all based on historic features which are unlikely to change anytime soon – some of them have been in place for over a century. To be safe though, we recommend playing within 3 months of purchase. If you do spot a clue that’s out of date, please let us know, and we’ll give you a free game of your choice to say thank you

Are your outdoor escape room games accessible for people with mobility challenges?

Our games are mainly played on public streets, and we walk them carefully to ensure they are accessible for people with mobility challenges. We provide specific accessibility information on each game page. If you do spot any unflagged access issues, please let us know, and we’ll gift you a free game of your choice to say thank you

Is this a good affordable escape room alternative in Perth?

What if I can't solve a clue?

We have a tiered hinting system delivered on request to player 1’s phone. The first hint is a gentle nudge, the second is a bit more explicit. If you’re still struggling after taking the hints, you can reveal the answer on player 1’s phone

Can we pause and resume games?

Absolutely. You get save codes so that you can resume the game at any point. If your outdoor escape room uses an elimination grid on player 2’s phone, this should automatically save for 7 days, but if you’re planning to pause the game, we recommend taking a screenshot of your grid before you do. Just in case.

Do we need to book a time to play?

No. Games are self-guided and can be played when you are ready. Buy online, open the game on your phone and play at your own pace.

Do we need to download an app to play?

No app download is needed. The game runs on your phone’s internet browser. The exception to this may be a corporate game, which is more customised.

Are the games suitable for kids and families?

There are no adult themes in any of our games. If your kids are old enough to enjoy an escape room, they’re old enough to enjoy one of these!

How long does an outdoor escape game take?

Most people spend a couple of hours playing, but they are designed to be flexible. Race through and complete it as fast as you can for bragging rights, or stop for lunch along the way, the choice is yours.

How far do we walk in an outdoor escape room?

Each game page lists the approximate distance so that you can choose a distance that suits your group. The average is about 2-3km, but we offer routes significantly shorter and longer than this.

Do we need to go inside buildings or paid attractions?

No, all clues use publicly visible details. You will not need to buy tickets to any attractions, although you can stop for a look around places if you want to

What do we need to play an outdoor escape room?

Your team will need two fully charged phones with mobile data enabled. You may also find it useful to bring a pen and paper, but this isn’t essential.

Is an outdoor escape room the same as a scavenger hunt?

An outdoor escape room is different to a scavenger hunt. Scavenger hunts, like outdoor escape rooms, involve looking hard at your surroundings to find the important detail. In a scavenger hunt, you would then get another clue to the next detail you have to find. Outdoor escape rooms can be more challenging (in a good way!), as they make you use that detail to solve a puzzle before you can unlock the next stage.
